Hamster magnet from Bubbledog. This store is chock full of cuteness. :)

Starlite earrings from Clever Girl Industries.
Happy Friday peeps. Let's get crackalackin' on this weekend.

Another funny...

Last night:

Me: How come we haven't made out lately?
C: We're like the Hamilton's!!!
Me: (laughing) Wha? Who are the Hamilton's?
C: I mean the Walton's....

We've loved having you visit us family. You make us feel like the Hamiltons. Whoever they are.

Good times

Thursday, March 27, 2008

Humorous encounters of late (at least I found them humorous, but I'm kinda weird)...

Talking about movie Pride and Prejudice:
Me: Can you imagine calling your husband Mr.?
J: Well, those were different times, but maybe if you were angry with him...
Me: When I'm angry with Hubs I call him b*h*le. Mr. B*h*le seems a bit formal.

Talking about bread:
Me: I'd like to try making my own bread.
P: Do you have a bread machine?
Me: No...
P: Well how are you going to do it then?
Me: People did make bread before bread machines...

Finding Hubs's passport in the second place he had looked after going through every single thing we own to find it (also the same place he found our marriage cert. after "losing" it).
Me: Next time you lose something I think I should look through that drawer.
Hubs: I was looking through this drawer like a monkey lookin' for fleas!
Me: I think you were looking through that drawer like a monkey lookin' for a banana, not a passport.

haha! Ohhh... good times. ;)

And here's a funny Daily Chuck pic from Dooce.

Craftiness and some free patterns!

More Sia - Academia

I am loving this song.... (Sia - Some People Have Real Problems)

Academia (click here for video)

You can be my alphabet and I will be your calculator
And together we’ll work out on the escalator
I will time you as you run up the down
And you’ll measure my footsteps as I blow through this town
The mean of our heights is divided by the nights
Which is times’d by the daggers and the route of all our fights,
The pass of your poem is to swathe me in your knowing
And the beauty of the word is that you don’t have to show it

Oh academia you can’t pick me up
Soothe me with your words when I need your love

I am a dash and you are a dot
When will you see that I am all that you’ve got
I’m a binary code that you cracked long ago
But to you I’m just a novel that you wish you’d never wrote
I’m greater than x and lesser than y, so why is it
that I still can’t catch your eye?
You’re a cryptic crossword, a song I’ve never heard
While I sit here drawing circles I’m afraid of being hurt

Oh academia you can’t pick me up
Soothe me with your words when I need your love

You’re a difficult equation with a knack for heart evasion
Will you listen to my proof or will you add another page on
It appears to me the graph has come and stolen all the laughs
It appears to me the pen has over analysed again
And if I am a number I’m infinity plus one
And if you are five words you are afraid to be the one
And if you are a number you’re infinity plus one
And if I am four words then I am needing of your love

Oh academia you can’t pick me up
Soothe me with your words when I need your love

In honor of Easter, some bunny cuteness...

Cute cards from Ashleybug.

Tulip the Rabbit from Zygopsyche.

Bunny brooch from Melissa Beal.

This is a little Magpie Skinnies watercolor. That's not a bunny, you say! Well, you try telling Peter that!! He's sure he's a rabbit and you can't convince him otherwise!

Happy Easter to those of you who celebrate it!

Green Friday

Hola peeps!

If any of you out there are working on being more green, here's an article that might be helpful: Low-cost ways to conserve water at home. This is a good (albeit short one) as well: Greening your home in the right order.

We have leaky front and back doors that we are looking for ways to fix... Way drafty. Needs work!

In honor of my green Friday, I'm going to post some green eye candy for you!

Cutie pie pocket mirror from Bubbledog.

Pretty little notecards from Tobi Wood Designs and they're also having a sale!

Ipod cozy from Little Odd Forest!

Sia - Electric Bird

Thursday, March 20, 2008

Someone plugged you in
And sadly they clipped your wings
you can’t fly away electric bird
Yeah someone took your tweet
When They *One day* fed you that bad seed
You can’t fly away electric bird

Well you’re art, you fell into this part
You play the victim perfectly holding your beating
heart, you used to be so smart
You fluttered round the yard making your magic

Got to set you free, you were blinded by deceit
You can’t fly away electric bird
So now this rooms all staged
While you’re stuck there in that cage
You can’t fly away electric bird

Well you’re art, you fell into this part
You play the victim perfectly holding your beating
heart, you used to be so smart
You fluttered round the yard making your magic

You're art, you fell into this part
You play the victim perfectly holding your beating
heart, you used to be so smart
You fluttered round the yard making your magic

See video here!  I heart Sia.

Lovely Spring Finds

Pretty purse by Tortilla Girl on Etsy.

Paintings by Amy Ruppel, "paintings are paper, oils and a beeswax/resin mixture on wood". So pretty.

This be-a-utiful toy box from Mod Mom Furniture.

Insanely cute paper cut art done by Greenbean Baby. She'll be updating her shop March 28th. ;)

Oh no, not the Mac!

Wednesday, March 19, 2008

Today one of the mac computers in our dept. crapped out, my quasi assistant's. I was a bit freaked as there's too much to do for it to all fall on my shoulders. So we called Mitch of Emdeebee and he popped over and fixed it for us. The man is a Mac Genius. If you're in the Kansas City area and have Mac problems call him (seriously drop me a comment or email and I'll give you his number), he's fantastic. :)

So proud of myself...

Tuesday, March 18, 2008

I'm working on a little sewing project at home (I'll post pics as soon as it's complete!) and I was getting excited about sewing. I very nearly bought these two books:

But if you'll remember correctly I am NOT buying anything unnecessary for the rest of the month. It took all the willpower I had (as well as going online and finding that my local library has ordered these books -hooray!) to keep me from not purchasing. WHEW! I'm so proud. We'll see how the rest of the month goes. ;)

See lots of cute things that can be made from these books and others here!

Vacation Getaway

Need to get away from it all?? Visit a Ozark High Rise! Heh heh. I want to build one of these in our yard. It'd be awesome. :)

Friday Favorites...

Friday, March 14, 2008

Super cute cards from Red Cap Cards. Check out the cutie pie animation on their homepage!! :)

This has been a crazy week at work. I'm zonkered.

I'm going to try to simplify my life (where possible). For the rest of March I'm going to try to not purchase anything new (other than food and essentials). I'd like to try hard core simplification like the freegans in the simplify link, but I don't know where you can squat in KC. Nuts! ;)

Has anyone out there tried the “Not Buying It" plan for simplifying? I'd be interested to hear what you thought.

Tremendously cute...

Thursday, March 13, 2008

I love Ranía Hassan's work. Her little drawings and stories are so cute and then she does really beautiful paintings as well.

Something different...

Getting married this spring or summer?? How about a dog cake topper??

Cute cake topper from Mykonos on Etsy.

Ann Wood's cake topper and decorative birds are the cutest. I don't know how she does it!

Isn't this bed frame by Delia Furniture gorgeous??

And how about these cutie pie pendants from Wewlry? The creator, Laura, is a totally sweet lady!

Here is some mushroomy goodness from Fasten.

I'm loving this picture by Jim Skea on Flickr. It makes me feel kinda mellow and floaty just looking at it. I've been jonesing quite badly to have another tropical getaway. Last year's trip to Belize was an eye opener as I'd always been skeered of the ocean, but I loved getting in and snorkeling. I can't wait to do it again.

Work is stressing me out big time and lately I've been deal with the stress poorly. I'm considering quitting it all and becoming a seldom-bathing, dread wearing, festival going hippie with no cell phone. :) I'm gonna leave it allllll behind.

What I'm loving...

Monday, March 10, 2008

I'm loving this guy's paintings. ;)

I'm loving this pendant by Ceeb Wassermann of Howlin Doggie on Etsy.

And I'm so excited because I had my first Etsy sale!! I included a free print and button, I hope she enjoys them. I believe I'll do that periodically to mark milestones, so remember that if you buy something from my etsy shop!

Munchkins

Sunday, March 9, 2008

We went to my niece's first b-day party this weekend. She's a sweet little girl and quite the cutie. :)

I had a good time goofing with the boys, they played a funny version of peekaboo and were cracking themselves up. J is a buster, C's mom think he looks a lot like C when he was small.

I taught E a new word (it's so fun being an aunt). We were sitting on the couch and he pulled his socks off. Then he turned his foot over and said, "i have stuff in there" (blue lint from his socks). I said, you've got toe jam. So I told him to run and tell his mom that he had toe jam. He kept going "I got toe jam in me!" (squinching up his nose on the toe jam part.) haha!

Good times... He had a parents as teachers meeting and when the teacher asked him what he wanted to finger paint he said a solar system. She'd not heard that one before, surprisingly. ha! He's a funny little man. ;)

Funky Dolls

Tuesday, March 4, 2008

This lady makes the neatest dolls. Such amazing attention to detail. I love these purple guys on the purple background. Too funny!
